There is a tremendous amount of misinformation available about what to feed your baby when he or she is ready to move into solid foods. This chart outlines all of the nourishing, traditional foods that will help your baby grow and thrive starting at 4 months* to over one year. It includes categories of beverages, healthy fats, protein, fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts and legumes, including preparation techniques.
Hold the rice cereal! Skip the cheerios! Find out why it is not advised to introduce rice cereal or grains until after age one--and when you do, which grains are best to introduce, how to prepare them so they are easily digested, and the healthy fats to serve with them so that their nutrients are absorbed, and anti-nutrients are neutralized.
Chart Details: It is 12 x 18 inches and hand illustrated. It is laminated for years of use, and easy to wipe off should it be splashed with pureed avocado or egg yolk! The chart is also beautiful enough to frame; truly “functional kitchen art”. It is lovely to look at, simple to follow, and full of great information about how to feed your baby!

*Please note: The author of this work agrees that the best food for children is breast milk from a nutritionally robust mother, and encourages and suggests breastfeeding for as long as possible when this is the case. There is much documented evidence that breast milk contains nutrients and immune system boosters not found in any other food, and thus is a superior food. However, this is only the case when a mother is receiving proper nutrition while nursing.
This chart is not meant to instruct mothers to stop breastfeeding at a certain age, nor to start feeding their children solid foods at any particular age. It is meant to serve as a guide to outline those foods that would be easily digested by a child by age, that is, which foods a child of a particular age will have the ability to digest. Some children may be ready for solids at four months, and if so, the chart tells which foods would be appropriate at that age. However, some children may not be ready for solid foods until 8 or 10 months or older. Follow your child’s lead, and when they are ready, you will know what foods are “digestive system appropriate” at that age. However, it is suggested that cod liver oil and liver are started early on as described.
